What is a HippoPhile?
The suffix “-phile” means one that loves, likes, or is attracted to. So someone who likes books is a bibliophile. Someone who loves hippos is a hippophile. Although if you look up “hippophile” in the dictionary it will say that it means someone who loves horses. Well, we know that’s just not quite right. It’s not “horses” it’s RIVER HORSES. Otherwise known as hippos. Or hippopotamuses. Or hippopotami. Or hippomucholotsathem.
